Welcome to Jakarta Veggie

If you have landed on this blog, perhaps it is because you, like me, are searching for vegetarian options in Jakarta. This is a meat-centric town and I often find myself in restaurants for business lunches and social events, scanning menus for things I can eat or items that might be easily adapted by omitting the meat. It is usually hit and miss. On more than one occasion, I have ended up with practically plain nasi goreng (fried rice), or, most recently, a 'Pesto Chicken Wrap' (recommended by the server as a good vegetarian alternative, minus the chicken) and was served a wrap of pesto and lettuce. Lettuce. Alone, with no other veggies to keep it company, although I know carrots and tomatoes and cheese were available, based on my scan of other menu items.

I am an ovo-lacto vegetarian, but I will try my best to mention whether vegans might enjoy a particular dish or menu. My reason for starting this blog is that I can never seem to remember helpful details like the names and addresses of restaurants that I might like to return to- as well as the ones to avoid. I will attempt to provide photos, price ranges, address, contact info, and a note on accessibility.

If you have any suggestions or recommendations, please feel free to post a comment. Bon apetit!
